I’m anxious about Barcelona I’m anxious about Barcelona is designed to be viewed through video glasses while lying down to induce the experience of dreaming. We exist in two realities; waking life and the dreaming state. Truth in dreams is often not the same as truth in waking life. At times, a dream is so lucid that when we awake, the residual truth of that dream leaves us wondering which reality is existent. Since feelings from the dreaming state adjust our feelings in waking life and experiences from waking life are carried over into our dreaming state; there is a cyclical dialogue within us. Our two existing realities exchange their interpretations of truth each day and night. In this piece, my intention is to recreate this dialogue. By using series of still frames mixed with real time video, I am attempting to simulate the experience of dreaming, while also provoking the consideration of what is existent truth. The image on the bed is a representation of our associative, sprawling thought process in both the dream state and waking life. the installation photos |
